ADIT'2001 5th Annual Conference
“Museums and Information Space: Computer Technologies and Cultural Heritage”
Tula, May 28 to June 2, 2001

The conference shall have the following plenary sessions:
 • “THE MISSION OF ADIT AS THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION ON MUSEUM DOCUMENTATION”
The plenary will be devoted to policy making of ADIT as the national association on museum documentation, ADIT contacts with RMA, the Russian Ministry of Culture, the UNESCO, the EC, SIDOC and AVICOM.
 • “INFORMATION MANAGEMENT”
Presentation themes:
1. “Museum of the future” Web site.
2. “The Museum of the Future: Information Management”, a collection of papers (presentation and hand-out of copies).
3. Educational projects: ADIT and the Museum of the Future.
4. “Information Management” course at the Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences.
 • “DIGITISING REGISTRATION AND STORAGE OF MUSEUM OBJECTS”
The plenary and round table will address various aspects of digitisation techniques, the use of standards to describe museum objects, the creation of databases and methods for filling out museum files.
 • “THE USE OF DIGITISED SYSTEMS IN THE RESEARCH AND EXHIBITION ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED BY MUSEUMS“
The plenary and round table will address methods for using the information resources of a museum and Internet resources for the benefit of museum research and exhibition.
 • “INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES IN CUSTOMER SERVICES“
The plenary and round table will deal with digitised systems for booking and selling tickets, using information kiosks, projectors etc.
 • “THE DAY OF THE RUSSIAN MUSEUM ASSOCIATION“
The plenary will discuss problems of digitising culture in small Russian cities; there will reports on the activities of the Russian Museum Association in various regions of Russia and the experience of conducting training sessions in provincial cities; a survey of the regional policy of the Russian Ministry of Culture and the financial support of regional projects by the Open Society Institute.

Events in the framework of the conference:
Museum computer festival with presentations of museum information projects: museum CD-ROMs and Web sites

 
 

The registration fee is $365 (for one person),
covering hotel accommodation at $50 per day, breakfast ($8 per day include),
lunch and dinner or reception ($20),
visit to Polenovo and return trip from Tula to Moscow ($15).

The fee covers:
Taking part in the computer festival and plenary sessions from May 28 to June 1
Accommodation at “Moskva” hotel on May 28, 29, 30, 31, June 1 and 2 (breakfast included)
Lunch on May 28, 29, 30, 31, June 1and 2
Receptions on May 28 and June 1
Visiting museums in Tula, a trip to V D Polenov State Memorial Museum-Reserve of History, Art and Nature, return trip to Moscow on June 2
Payments will be accepted in cash on registration.
