S T A T U T E
OF THE ASSOCIATION FOR DOCUMENTATION AND NEW INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES (ADIT)

1. PRINCIPAL PROPOSITIONS

     The Association for Documentation and New Information (ADIT) is established on the basis of the Regulations the Russian Committee of ICOM.      ADIT is noncommersial organization. It acts in close contacts with the Russian Committee of ICOM and CIDOC, and maintains close links with museums and international bodies on selected subjects.

2. GOALS AND MAIN ACTIVITIES

Goals and main activities of the ADIT correspond to the Regulations of the Russian Committee of ICOM and are defined by the goals and main activities of CIDOC.

2.1. The goals of the ADIT:
  • uniting Russian specialists in the field of museum informatics;
  • maintaining contacts with CIDOC and National Computer Museum Associations, such as MDA in UK, MCN in USA, CHIN in Canada;
  • organization of the annual National Conference of the ADIT;
  • translation and distribution of CIDOC papers.
To achieve these goals the ADIT will gather, study, analyze and publish information on corresponding topics, thus assisting Russian museums in their activities.

2.2. The main activities of the ADIT:
  • national seminars and the annual Conference;
  • participation in international programs of ICOM, European Community etc.;
  • cooperation in design, production and distribution of new information technologies;
  • consulting, establishing groups of experts;
  • contacts with international professional bodies through CIDOC and Russian Committee of ICOM;
  • working out an Electronic Publishing Concept for museums; the museum activity co-ordination on the problems mentioned above.
2.3. Expected results:
  • publication and distribution the results of the ADIT activities, translation and distribution of the CIDOC materials;
  • analytical materials concerning the new problems and the ways to solve them;
  • short and long-term prognoses of the main trends in correspondent fields of activity;
  • methodological materials;
  • assistance in organization of the joint Russian and International projects on the design and use of the thematic-oriented data-bases.
3. THE STRUCTURE OF THE ADIT

     The ADIT Board is elected for 3 years on the Conferences of the ADIT to control all the activities of the ADIT and includes the President, the vice-president, the Secretary, the Treasurer and the Leaders of the Working G roups.

     The ADIT includes private members and collective members.
Museums, other organizations and private persons may be members of the ADIT if they agree with the Statute of the ADIT and take part in activities of the ADIT.
Membership in the ADIT does not presuppose obligatory membership in ICOM. Employees of museums exclusively may be elected members of the Bureau.

     To fulfill the above mentioned activities, the ADIT establishes the following Working Groups:

  1. documentation and terminology;
  2. multimedia and information technologies in education;
  3. data-bases and electronic imaging;
  4. telecommunications and INTERNET;
  5. international relations;
  6. legislation;
  7. publishing.

The Organizing Committee of the next Conference, including the Chairman, financial group, publishing and distribution group is also established.
The ADIT makes annual report on its activities to the Russian Committee of ICOM and to CIDOC.
